The Cousin Storm

**This was written last night.  I am no longer sitting quietly alone, just FYI**

Wow. I seem to be sitting here in a quiet living room with a moment to myself. Weird. Also, it's before 11:30 and the kids are all asleep. Double weird. We have had a hectic couple of weeks to say the least.

Summer is in full swing around here. Yesterday I realized that school had let out exactly one month ago. One month? That is IT? All this craziness has happened in just 30 little days? I can barely believe it's true. What's funny is my friend who came to me with her woes and disbelief that a whole month of summer was already gone. She and I are different. And that is okay.

So at the beginning of the summer I planned on being a good mommy. I made these perfect little charts for the kids; no screen time each day until they checked off their practicing, reading, homework page and chore. (I'm a drag, I know.) The kids actually did really well with it and got all settled into a routine just in time for it to blow all to pieces. Those charts taped so purposefully to the side of my fridge haven't been peeked at in two weeks. This timing coincides perfectly with the arrival of cousins.

The Southern Utah branch of the family came up a couple of weekends ago and stayed with us partly to get a chance to spend time with the North-Western branch who came down to visit. It was a perfect storm of cousins and I have to tell you how delighted I am with all the time my kids have spent with their Romney cousins this month. Better than that there hasn't been fighting or drama - the kids get along so very well, all of them matched up perfectly in ages. It is heavenly.

We have had more gatherings on my back porch than I care to mention, a birthday celebration for my dad, sleepovers, outings to zoos and parks and cabins and ice cream, forts, swimming....

I am so tired.

And happy.

Here are some highlights:

Hamburdog!
Sleepover #1 - the Livingroom Fort

Melting Ourselves at the Zoo

One of Many Gatherings in our Back Yard - Apa's Birthday

Trying and Failing to Maintain Reverence at Church

Perhaps my favorite activity: Two Boys, One Pool and 599 Action Figures
Sleepover #2: Stomper caught a snake, dubbed him George and vowed he wouldn't come home with out it.  I won.

What a fun post! Glad you're still snake free.
