Put That Thing Away!!!

Holy Crap. That's about all I can think of to say. I asked Troy if we could snap a few pix tonight to show off my highly blossomed belly. Now that I look at the pictures, I'm not sure it was such a good idea. Woah. Well, that's how it goes, I guess.

An update: our daughter (not Bitty, the next one) is already turning out to be disobedient. I had an appointment today with my midwife to see how things were coming along. It turns out that our child has decided to stretch out side to side in my belly, like she's hanging out in a hammock. I'm sure she's very comfortable, the little stinker! I wouldn't mind so much except that I'm now past 38 weeks and could go into labor at any time. A spine-down baby is not a good thing for going into labor, just so you know. So on Monday morning we're going to go into the hospital and see if the docs over there can flip her around (from the outside). Hopefully that will work. We're looking at a possible C-section if she won't flip or won't stay flipped. I will confess that a C-section is not a part of my ideal birth plan. However, getting a baby here safely is higher on my list of priorities. I'm feeling calm and good we'll see if we can get this little gal turned around. She's squirming right now...maybe she'll do it all by herself!

I couldn't help but include a picture or two of Bitty, who already loves the camera. She sees it come out and instantly starts posing.

And me. Because I look funny. I will not be including the shot Troy took of my feet. Now THAT is scary.

Okay, friends, keep your fingers crossed that our gal starts somersaulting!

you are so brave to post that picture. I keep thinking I should take a picture, but I keep chickening out. I think I am probablly bigger than you. Aren't you sick of eyes dropping to your belly every time you walk in a room? good luck with the turning of the baby, maybe the manipulation will put you into labor :)

Oh those breech babies! Oliver kept flipping. One week breech, the next not breech, the next breech and so on and so on.. We just happened to catch while he was head down! Good Luck to you! I think you are adorable.

we had to do the version with #1 -- Kathleen said it was as painful as labor. I hope she flips! There is some herb you can burn by your little toe that reportedly often helps the baby turn. we tried that as well -- and it actually helped, we think. Kathleen will remember what it's called, but our doc at the time encouraged us to try anything we could in advance of the version to try to get the baby around. Good luck! We'll hold a good thought. You look great!

You are too cute! I hope you are doing well in these last few days and that little girl decides to follow gravity rather than staying in the hammock. Don't worry, you will be back to your self in no time. Isn't it so strange that we have to retain water for pregnancy!?! Good luck! Can't wait to meet her!

she can do it!!!!!! if she can relax in a hammock, she can decide to come out the right way! you show her who's boss, rachel! simply WILL her into turning. it's that easy, right? you look so dang cute, by the way! i'm glad you posted the pics!

Rachel, I think you look beautiful and you are NOT as huge as you say you are. You look great. So funny what we think in our heads. I hope all goes well with the flipping attempts. Thinking about ya!

You know I love you, but wow you are big! But only in the front, where you should be! :) (I've already forgotten how big I very recently was... I guess that's nature's way of ensuring survival of the species!)

As a survivor of 2 c-sections, don't worry about it. In some ways a c-section is better...no labor!

Hey Rach!! You look absolutely gorgeous! I'll be sending lots of good flippy, heads down vibes your daughter's way. And by the way...if the external version doesn't work (which hopefully it will work), have you ever heard of the Webster Technique with a Chiropractor? I know a woman, mama chiro who is very excellent at it in Sandy. Let me know if you are interested. The midwives up here in Oregon swear by Webster. If they have a mama with a mal-positioned baby they send them to do Webster before trying an external version. Best wishes to you!
Love you!
