Wonderful August

I don't normally think that August is all that wonderful - I'm usually really really OVER the heat by now but guess what, it hasn't been that hot at all!  July ended in multiple days of absolutely pouring rain and ever since we just haven't seen those blistering temperatures again.  It's been heavenly.  We keep going to the park in the evening - we can't stay away.  Especially because I have been lazy about planning anything fun, productive or worthwhile during the day, so the kids are crazy with cabin fever by 7:00 p.m. and it becomes essential that we leave.  Walking to the park has really fit the bill.

I had to add this one because it pretty much perfectly shows how summer feels:
WHeeeeeee!....I feel sick....

We really didn't do much that was official this summer.  No scheduled swimming lessons, no camps or lessons outside of cello.  Except one, and that was Stomper.  His buddy's sister has taken sewing classes for a long time which made Stomper's buddy want to take them too - he invited Stomper to join him and they had a really great time.  Stomper made his own jammie bottoms, a sleepover bag, and stuffed monkey and...this lovely Nintendo DS case.  I should probably take some pictures of the other things he made but he was just so proud of this case.

This was when I was so excited that I actually played outside with my girls for a while.

So yes, August is winding down and it's been a lovely one.  I feel like we're easing into fall already!

I love the "Wheeee. . . I feel sick" photo. It communicated quite a lot!
