Someone's Seventeen

This kid. I love him.

His birthday was a very happy one. He has wanted a certain electronic device for a very long time. He's been asking and asking and asking for it but HELLO it's an expensive item and we were not going to just give that to him, even for Christmas or a birthday. But he spent a lot of his summer working for us digging up very heavy dirt out of our dirt basement and saving up some bucks. We decided for his birthday that he could pay half and we could pay half and he could get his very expensive device. Thus on the morning of October the 28th Chase LEPT out of bed to find his birthday morning presents on the table. No surprises this year - he knew exactly what would be in those packages. And thus we welcomed his nintendo switch into our home. Sort of welcomed.

That was a Monday but happily Chase was able to get friends over to our house for the evening. I fed them ramen and made a Japanese jiggle-cake. It's basically eggs. It tasted a little bit like a German pancake (I grew up calling those Popeye pancakes) but was really fun and was indeed jiggly as promised.

Chase, you are a wonderful guy and we love watching and trying to help you as you grow into a wonderful man. He is happily taking on more responsibility than before and makes friends wherever he goes. We have always enjoyed his humor and his super-fan status of so many fun things. He is growing in righteousness and often sort of startles me with his spiritual insights and priorities. Love you Chase.
